Biography


Kathleen Williams received a Master of Arts in IrishLiterature and Culture from Boston College in 1999. Now retired, Kathleenworked at Boston College for twenty-five years as reference librarian,bibliographer for Irish Studies, and collection development librarian, spendingthe last eight years working in the John J. Burns Library of Rare Books andSpecial collections, Kathleen was an active member of the Instruction Programthat introduced students to the use of rare and archival materials. In 2005,Kathleen worked on a project that sought to raise visibility of Irish womenwriters.  The project included creating a research guide, andidentifying the many women writers who worked in the nineteenth and earlytwentieth century.  After identifying the women writers, Boston Collegelibrary cataloging staff added a special note to the book records for theworks.  This search retrieves bibliographic records for the works. Kathleencurrently serves as a team member for the IrishWomen’s Writing (1880-1920) Network.  The network facilitates international andinterdisciplinary connections and exchanges between researchers recovering andstudying the lives and work of Irish women writers, artists, historians,scientists and more.
